Penstemon is a great flower to help attract hungry pollinators to your garden. With sun, and a little shade in the afternoon, these flowers will bloom from June through the first frost, and are loved by hummingbirds and butterflies.

Adding compost when planting your Penstemon is always a good idea, as it will help create good drainage. Keep newly planted Penstemon evenly moist to help them get established, and for established plants, keep them just slightly moist between waterings. By removing spent flowers, you'll encourage more blooms. With so many different varieties, there is a Penstemon for everyone's garden. Here are a few of our favorite varieties:
