Gasteria, also known as "Ox Tongue" because of its long leaves with rough texture, is an aloe-like succulent. Gasteria leaves are marked with interesting patterns and colors.  Mature species will project tubular, curved flowers in the winter to spring. This plant will tolerate lower levels of light, is slow growing, and most varieties stay compact.
