Desert Orchid (Chitalpa × 'Desert Orchid') is a fast-growing small to medium ornamental hybrid of Chilopsis and Catalpa, producing abundant trumpet-shaped pink-lavender flowers from late spring into summer that attract hummingbirds and other pollinators. Well-suited to sunny, well-drained sites in the Willamette Valley once established, it is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance but dislikes wet winter soils and may need periodic pruning to control suckers and maintain form.
