Melianthus
Melianthus
Melianthus (commonly called honey bush) is a dramatic evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial prized for architectural, pinnate blue-green leaves up to two feet long and upright spikes of nectar-rich rust-orange flowers that attract hummingbirds and bees. Thriving in Willamette Valley conditions in full sun to part shade with moist, well-drained soil (USDA zones 8–10), it tolerates short dry periods but dislikes winter waterlogging, can be propagated by division or cuttings, and its foliage is mildly toxic so handle with care.
